Outdoor Learning Assistant

Job Title: After-school Club Outdoor Learning Assistant
Salary: £10 per hour (two hours minimum per day)

Location: Southbourne and Christchurch

Do you love working with kids and enjoy being outdoors whatever the weather? The Fresh Air Club runs after-school and holiday clubs across Bournemouth and Christchurch and we are looking for an Outdoor Learning Assistant at our after-school clubs who is passionate about getting kids outside, having fun and helping them learn new skills in a fun and engaging way.

After-school clubs are currently run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during school terms in Bournemouth and Christchurch. They run from the end of school for an hour, and we run all sorts of activities from team games to shelter building - see what we get up to on our social media pages. You will need to arrive 10 minutes before the beginning of the session to sign into school, at the end of the session you will pack away equipment and ensure the children are returned to their parents/guardians safely. In reality, this is less than 2 hours work but we pay 2 hours minimum for each after-school club session in case any parent is late collecting their child.

You will need to be fun, enthusiastic and have a good sense of humour. You must be reliable and punctual as it is imperative for the club to run. If you are unable to work one of the days, it is essential you give us enough notice to fill the role so you must be highly organised. As the business grows, you will have the opportunity of working at our holiday clubs too.

Although no specific qualifications are required, a love of being outdoors in all weathers, and some previous experience of working with children are essential. You might have experience of being in the great outdoors in the scouting movement, maybe you have bushcraft or survival skills knowledge, maybe you’re a sports and games enthusiast or you might be a parent with some cool outdoors hobbies. An existing DBS on the auto-renewal/update service, a first aid qualification and safeguarding certification are desirable but we can get these organised for you.

The Fresh Air Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.

To apply, please email your CV to hello@thefreshairclub.co.uk, let us know why the job appeals to you and why you think you’ll be a good fit.
